Caddi vs. Celonis

Celonis is event-log process mining: it maps how your processes run from ERP data and shows where they leak, then hands the fix to data engineers or a partner. Caddi is end-to-end AI process automation: it discovers the work in the tools you already use, the person who does it builds the automation, and every run is governed.

What is Celonis?

Celonis is the best-known process mining platform. It extracts event logs from ERP and CRM systems like SAP, rebuilds how your processes really run, and flags where they lose time and money, usually with a data team or an implementation partner running it.

Best for SAP-heavy Global 2000 companies with a data team, an implementation partner and a transformation budget, optimizing order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and supply chain processes.

How Caddi's approach is different

Caddi is the end-to-end process automation solution. It doesn't stop at discovering your processes: it also builds the automation that replaces them and governs every run.

  • Cheaper. Free to start. No six-figure contract, no data-volume pricing.
  • Faster. Findings in 15 to 30 minutes. No event logs, desktop agents or consultants.
  • Agentic first. The AI forms hypotheses about how your work runs and validates each one against your data.
  • Build it right away. The person who does the work builds the automation. No IT project.
  • Governed. Every run and decision is logged and reviewable. No black box.

Celonis tells you where the process leaks. Then someone else has to fix it. Its process mining reconstructs processes from ERP event logs, and it does that at a scale few tools match. But turning a finding into a running automation is a separate project for data engineers, an implementation partner or another tool. Caddi runs the whole way: Discover finds the work, the ops person who does it builds it in Automate, and Govern keeps every run and decision on the record.

Finding the work is step one

Celonis is excellent at the first stage. Its Process Intelligence Graph connects events across systems and shows throughput times, rework loops and the variants that cost money. Celonis has also moved toward action: action flows and Celonis Studio apps can trigger an alert, open a task or write back to a system when a KPI slips. What they do not do is rebuild the manual work itself. That still lands with data engineers, a partner or a separate automation platform, and the monitoring stays on the process, not on the automations someone else builds.

Event logs vs. the tools you already use

Celonis starts with data engineering. Someone has to extract event tables from the ERP, map case IDs and activities, and keep the pipeline current, which is why most Celonis programs run through an SI partner and take months to show a first dashboard. That is the right model for a procure-to-pay process with millions of line items.

Most professional services work never touches an ERP event table. It lives in Outlook, Clio, NetDocuments, iManage, Salesforce, Wealthbox, Box and DocuSign. Discover connects to those tools under the access you already have, read only, always. It forms hypotheses about what processes are running, checks them against the real activity, and shows only what the data supports, ranked by hours. It usually runs in 15 to 30 minutes. No event-log extraction, no desktop agents, no consultants.

Why it’s worth automating

Every message already names the client and the matter. The four steps are the same each time, and the tools never talk to each other, so you carry the details between them by hand.

Each Discover finding opens to its evidence: what Caddi saw, why it is worth automating, and an estimate (how often x how long, over the window it observed). A ranking aid, not a forecast.

Toggle between the two lifecycles. The difference is not the quality of the insight; it is how many teams the insight has to pass through before anything runs.

How they score where it counts

Celonis wins on depth. Nothing on this page matches it for conformance checking, variant analysis and object-centric mining across an SAP estate. Caddi wins on everything after the insight, and on how fast a small team gets there.

When Celonis is the right call

Celonis is the right tool if your processes run through SAP or another ERP at high volume, you want order-to-cash, procure-to-pay or supply chain mined across millions of events, and you have a data team (or a partner) and a transformation budget to act on what it finds. Caddi Discover is not event-log process mining; it does not do conformance checking, simulation or variant analysis at that scale.

When Caddi is the right call

Caddi is the right call if your work lives in email, document management, practice management and CRM tools rather than ERP tables, if there is no data team to build an event-log pipeline, and if you want the finding turned into a running automation by the person who does the work, with every run logged and reviewable.

Which fits your situation?

Best fit

Celonis

That is exactly what Celonis is built for. Caddi Discover does not mine ERP event logs at that scale.

Celonis is the benchmark for mining SAP-scale processes, and it has earned that. But finding the work is step one. If the work that eats your team's week lives in inboxes, matters and client records, Caddi finds it in the tools you already use, lets the person who does it build the automation, and governs every run, for a fraction of the cost.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Celonis alternatives?

It depends on what you need after the insight. If you need event-log mining at ERP scale, the usual Celonis competitors are SAP Signavio, UiPath Process Mining, Power Automate Process Mining and IBM Process Mining. If you want the work found, automated and governed in one product without a data team, Caddi is the alternative: Discover reads the tools you already use, the ops person who does the work builds the automation in Automate, and Govern logs every run and decision.

How much does Celonis cost?

Celonis does not publish pricing. Third-party reports put entry contracts at roughly $80,000 to $95,000 per year (about 100GB of data and 10 users) and a single process area at $150,000 to $250,000 per year, before implementation partner fees. Caddi publishes its pricing: Individual is free with Discover and Automate included, and Team is $250 per user per month and adds Govern.

Is there a free version of Celonis?

Celonis has offered a limited free tier with small data volumes, but the full platform is sold as an annual commitment, usually alongside an implementation partner. Caddi Individual is free for one user with no time limit, and it includes both Discover and Automate, so you can find a workflow and build the automation without a contract.

Does Celonis build automations?

Partly. Celonis action flows and Studio apps can trigger steps from inside the platform, like sending an alert or updating a record when a KPI slips. Automating the underlying work end to end is usually a separate build by data engineers, an implementation partner or another automation tool. In Caddi, the ops person who does the work teaches Caddi once over a screen-share and Caddi builds it as verified code over APIs.

Is Caddi a cheaper alternative to Celonis?

For professional services back offices, yes. Caddi starts free and Team is $250 per user per month, with no event-log extraction and no implementation partner. Celonis is built for Global 2000 companies mining SAP-scale processes, and its pricing reflects that. If you need order-to-cash or procure-to-pay mining across millions of ERP events, Celonis is the stronger tool; Caddi does not do conformance checking or variant analysis at that scale.

Caddi vs. Celonis: which should I choose?

Choose Celonis if you have a data team, an SAP-heavy ERP estate and a transformation budget, and the goal is optimizing high-volume order-to-cash or procure-to-pay processes. Choose Caddi if you are an ops team at a law firm, RIA, accounting firm or insurer that wants the repeated work found in the tools it already uses, built by the person who does it, and governed run by run.
